Fire and Ice Spectacular to sparkle in Rugby Town Centre

Rugby First and Rugby Borough Council are inviting everyone to join come into the town centre for Rugby’s first ever Fire and Ice Spectacular on Sunday 30 November. The FREE event, which will take place between 2pm-7pm will feature a magical trail that takes you on a festive journey of discovery including ice sculptures, fire beacons, live carving shows, a carving wall, story-telling, music, dance, fire breathing, walkabout characters, festive craft activities, Father Christmas, a funfair, food, toasted marshmallows, face painting and more.

At the heart of the trail will be a series of stunning ice sculpture masterpieces that will glisten and then be beautifully transformed with a dazzling display of lights when it starts to get dark! Try your hand at ice carving, watch the spectacular ‘Fire and Ice‘ show, enjoy some amazing photo-opportunities or write and post your letter to Santa in our frozen post box.

Follow the fire beacons around the trail and enjoy more magical surprises - fire pits and toasted marshmallows, Christmas Tales in a yurt, fire breathing, a living nativity, The Snowman movie, hot chocolate, mulled wine and Santa’s Grotto. There will also be plenty of make and take festive activities including writing a letter to Santa, creating your own Christmas card, icing a gingerbread tree decoration, and making your own angel lantern decoration.

Don’t miss out on the festive music and dance that includes traditional carols under the Christmas lights of St Andrews and Rugby Baptist Church, and look out for Father Christmas, Jack Frost and mischievous elves as you travel the trail.

Linda Lowne, Rugby First Business Director, said: “This is the first time the event has taken place, and I am really excited by it. It is one of a series of events planned in the town centre in the lead up to Christmas and I would like to thank everyone involved, including Rugby Borough Council, St Andrew’s Church and Rugby Baptist Church.”

Linda continued: “We are asking people this year to make a special effort to not only support what promises to be a very special event but at the same time visit and support their local town centre businesses. The town centre has some amazing businesses offering some great Christmas gifts, as well as food and drink, and your support on the day and in the lead up to Christmas can make a real difference.”
