Small Business Saturday 2025

Rugby Mayor, Cllr Barbara Brown, Local MP, John Slinger and Rugby First Business Director, Linda Lowne will be throwing their weight and support behind the national ‘Small Business Saturday’ campaign when they visit town centre businesses on Saturday 6 December.

‘Small Business Saturday’, is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities. The day itself takes place on the first shopping Saturday in December each year, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses. Now in its thirteenth year, the campaign has grown significantly year on year encouraging millions to shop small.

Linda Lowne, said; “Small Business Saturday is an excellent way of raising awareness of small-town centre businesses and we fully support it. Rugby has an amazing range of diverse and independent shops offering unique and personal gifts and services. One small purchase can make a big difference to a small business, and I would ask people to support their local businesses not only at Christmas but throughout the year.”

Cllr Barbara Brown: “Small businesses are vital to the local economy. They provide jobs and ensure spend is retained within the local area. ‘Small Business Saturday’ is a great way to support and raise awareness of the local business community, and we are extremely lucky to have such a diverse range of fantastic small and independent businesses in the area, and we need to support them.”

John Slinger, MP, said: “I am delighted to show my support for Rugby’s small and independent businesses on ‘Small Business Saturday’. Like many others, I try and shop locally wherever I can and Rugby has a number of unique retailers and services who can provide some really special gifts and services, at Christmas, but importantly throughout the year.”
